October 15 - 19, 2018

LMS Staff Casual for a Cause day to benefit the Alzheimer's Association
Lakeside Lightning,

It's All About Respect at LMS!

Lakeside hosted a coach session on Thursday October 11, 2018 to prepare for National Demonstration School revalidation. This is a big honor at LMS because AVID provides students and teachers with research-based strategies to improve organization, study habits and college and career readiness.  The results of the coaching session was very positive and our visitors were impressed with the academic climate at LMS! We still have some things to work on and prepare for as we get closer to the actual revalidation date in December. Stay tuned!

This week coming up we have an early dismissal on Friday, October 19, 2018. The purpose of the early dismissal is to allow our staff opportunity for continued Professional Development. During the early dismissal, staff will be engaged in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) which is a district initiative!

Emily and Bryant
6th Grade Gifted and Talented Program Visits the Renaissance Faire
Each year Mrs. Gaudio takes the 6th grade GT program to the Renaissance Faire to experience what life was like in the days of olde times. Bryant Nelson and Emily Kukal were dubbed for Knighthood and Ladyship at the Faire.  They represented Lakeside in the ceremony for all to see.

PLC Shout Out
Deena Andrews shared a very informative presentation she created on 'Vocal Health for Teachers' to our 6th Grade ELA PLC.  The presentation was well done and imparted really useful information about taking care of our voices.  Deena shared what food and drink to avoid or consume, exercises to ready our voice for the day, as well as warning signs for vocal damage.  Thanks Deena.

Workout Wednesday is Back
Workout Wednesday is back!  Teachers and Students: On Wednesday's, wear your workout gear.  Teachers, check out the Wellness committee's notes for an idea on how to incorporate workouts in to your classroom.

Taylor Whitaker, Kendall Sooy, Abigail Bender and Alexis West held strong in defense, along with Macie Jacquet and Julia Thompson in goal. Novalee  Bybel and Sadie Drozdowski both scored for the Bolts offense to bring home the win for Millville. The JV girls also won their match 1-0, showing great promise for the future. Great job, girls!

The Boys' Soccer team lost a tough game yesterday to Middle Township by a score of 2 to 0.  The game was kept close by stellar defense from Reagan Brunetta, Russ Corson, Ethan Hyson, Jackson Gamber, and Luke Patterson.  The boys look to get back to their winning ways this afternoon against Buena.  Early dismissal is at 2:27, between 8th and 9th periods.
