Lakeside Lightning,

The World Is Yours: Turning Obstacles Into Opportunities

21st Century students learning Latin Percussion
Happy Thanksgiving everyone! We are so excited about this week because it ties into our emphasis on Gratitude at LMS. Earlier this month, Dr. Cook asked the staff at LMS to identify a few students that they were grateful for and why. The staff submitted 160 nominations and Dr. Cook will be sending 135 individual letters (some had multiple nominations) in the mail to their parents. There was certainly a theme on those students who were selected. Many have overcome obstacles or have displayed a positive attitude towards the staff at LMS. Be on the lookout and if you don't get a letter, then view it as an opportunity to grow.

Are you a football player trying to get stronger and better at tackling?  Are you a soccer player trying to get better with your lower body strength and cardio?  Are you a baseball player looking to improve your strength and fitness for the upcoming season?  Are you just a tough person looking to repeat what you see in the UFC?  Well, the Lakeside Wrestling team is the team for you.  Sign-ups for the team are in two locations:  One in front of Coach Williams's classroom at M101, and the other is in the cafeteria.  You only need to sign up at one of them, but please be sure to put your full name, grade, and if you've complete a sports physical in the past year.  Wrestling is only for the toughest students, who are willing to get better everyday.  Athletes of all sizes can find a spot on the team, if you're tough enough.  So even if you've never wrestled before, sign up or talk to Coach Williams in M101 if you're interested.

Are you interested in being involved with the Audio/Visual Club at Lakeside Middle School? Would you like to write articles, take pictures and video for the school at the events? If you answered yes to any of these questions, please come out to the AVA Club Meeting on Friday, November 17 at 3:20PM - 4:20 PM in the DMC. Dr. Cook, who will be the AVA Club Advisor will go over the club expectations and have students get started with ideas! If you have any questions, please see Dr. Cook in the Main Office.

Any Student interested in Running the Jolly Holly 5k and 1 mile fun Run before the Millville Christmas parade, please see your PE teacher for a form.  All forms must be handed in to Coach Camerieri.
