We must continue to be business as usual at Lakeside. Plus, there are a lot of really cool events that are coming up so we want to make sure that everyone is eligible.

Lakeside Lightning Round May 23 - 27, 2022

Lakeside's Character Team earns Honorable Mention

Lakeside Lightning,

Grow through what you go through

We have finished all of the NJSLA and the make-ups. Thank you to all of the students and teachers working together to make this happen. We want to thank our School Counselors and our Testing Coordinator, Mrs. Sooy! Great job team.

This week the bells are back on and we are looking forward to getting back to our normal routines. It is very important that we maintain our structure for the remainder of the school year. We will not be lowering our expectations.

Our 7th graders had an amazing experience at Tall Pines this week. This was our first class trip in over 2 years. Students had to earn their way on the trip through our point system. Thank you to Ms. Wheaton and the 7th grade team for leading the charge to reward those students who earned it.

We are looking forward to next year as we build off of this application and go for an official School of Character designation. Thank you to the team who worked on the application (Dr. Cook, Ms. Langlois, Ms. Belmonte, Ms. Votta, Mrs. Lokuta, Ms. Carrol, and Ms. Shelton)

Staff Sergeant Taylor Lax Visits Lakeside Middle School

Our students in Ms. McCafferty's class were welcomed with a surprise visit by Staff Sergeant Taylor Lax this week. After she discussed her journey in the military, the students asked lots of really good questions.

When she was stationed abroad, the students wrote letters to her and her team so she wanted to thank the in person! Thank you for your service Staff Sergeant Lax!

Lakeside Lightning Round - May 16 - 20, 2022

LMS Testing Team

Lakeside Lightning,

Grow through what you go through!

This week we finished up taking the NJSLA state testing. The results from these assessments should be ready in the summer and based on the information, we will be setting our goals for the 22-23 school year. In addition, the results will be an indication of how the students progressed over the pandemic. We hope that the students took it seriously and tried their best.

We will be looking forward to getting back to our regular schedule this week. We will be talking with the students about making good choices and finishing the year in a positive manner.

Summer School

Dr. Cook will be mailing out letters and sending information for parents of the students identified for summer school. We are using the COVID 19 addendum and any student with two or more failures will be required to attend summer school to be passed in to the next grade. The summer school will run from July 5 - August 4 Monday through Thursday 8 AM - 2:00 PM. Students will be taking all core classes and have encore and enrichment classes. Should you have any questions, please check Infinite Campus or contact your child's School Counselor.

Congratulations

Congratulations to Abby Ballard, Paul Desantis, and Erik Lopez for their participation with the Elementary Honors Band on May 7!

Nurse Appreciation Week

We wanted to thank our school Nurses for all that they do to keep us healthy!!!

Lakeside Lightning Round - May 9 - 13, 2022

Mrs. Biaselli with her surrogate and GMA

Lakeside Lightning,

Grow through what go through!

Lakeside Middle School was center stage this week as our own Mrs. Biaselli was recognized on the Mother's Day Breakfast In Bed. Millions around the world watched our staff and students cheer on Mrs. Biaselli for her big surprise. If you did not get a chance to see the live feed, we will include the link below.

Dr. Cook, our Principal, had this to say, "This was a huge event for Mrs. Biaselli, her family, her surrogate as well as Lakeside Middle School. There was a lot of work that went into the planning of the "rouse" in order to make sure she was surprised. The folks from GMA were a pleasure to work with. Mrs. Gaunt, Mr. Bird worked tirelessly on ensuring that the event went off without a hitch. Our district administration were extremely supportive as well as our friends at the High School. We hope that everyone understands now why we created the hype about a video and a Teacher Appreciation ceremony."

This week the 8th graders will again be in the spotlight as they take the NJSLA. This assessment is very important and we expect everyone will try their hardest and make Lakeside proud.
