Our NJHS were the Grand Champions for Alzthemier Walk |
What a week for sports in the south Jersey area! The Philadelphia Eagles won their first Super Bowl in dramatic fashion. Close to 3 million people went to the parade and celebrated the win.
Meanwhile at Lakeside Middle School, we had another tremendous week. Our staff participated in their own SOUPer Bowl. We had over 20 staff members submit their own soup to be judged and enjoyed. There were about 75 staff who enjoyed the soups and we donated half of the proceeds to the PBSIS program. Congratulations to Mrs. Hickman for winning! Also, a big thank you to Mrs. Oquendo for organizing it!

SOUPer Bowl = Super Time |
Also, Mrs. Hallenbeck is making her way through the 8th grade science classes to present the information they will need to best prepare for their high school experience. She has presented the information to three of the six groups, so please encourage the students to be patient if she has not gotten to their class yet. They will not be missing out on anything if they have to wait a week or two to select their courses.

Thank you and instead of a joke we have a Black History Fact of the Day: Did you know Esther Jones was the real Betty Boop!
The iconic cartoon character Betty Boop was inspired by a Black jazz singer in Harlem. Introduced by cartoonist Max Fleischer in 1930, the caricature of the jazz age flapper was the first and most famous female symbol in animation. Baby Esther’s “baby style” did little to bring her mainstream fame and she died in relative obscurity but a piece of her lives on in the iconic character Betty Boop.
Thank you and have a fabulous week!
