January 20 - 24, 2020

Lakeside Lightning,

It's All About Respect at LMS!

We hope everyone had an enjoyable 3 day weekend. At Lakeside Middle School, we know that having off for Martin Luther King, Jr. day is not just another day off but rather an opportunity for us to reflect on the impact of one of our great leaders. Dr. King held education at a very high level in his speeches and his actions. One of his most important quotes about education was, "The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character - that is the goal of true education."

We have so much to be grateful for in regards to Martin Luther King, Jr. As we being this week, be sure to reflect on this quote when dealing with others, "I have decided to stick with love. Hate is too great a burden to bear.”

Our hope for Martin Luther King Jr. Day 2020 is that our students will resolve conflicts peacefully.

Daily Announcements

The boys basketball team defeated Egg Harbor Township to kick off their 2020 season 28-25. Khalon Foster led all scorers with 11 points. Tashon Newman added another 8 points in the win. The boys look to extend their winning streak today when they travel to Middle Township.

Thank you and our joke of the week is:  What did the nuts say when they were playing tag? I’m gonna CASHEW! Have a funny week!

Students from Mrs. Wheaton's class work together to calculate unit rates and find the "better deal."

Mrs. Varner, Mrs. Garay, and Ms. Clifford had their 7th grade social studies classes participate in a Renaissance Research project to find their best friend in a “speed-dating” style interview activity.
