Lakeside Lightning Round - March 15 - 19, 2021

Lakeside Lightning,

The School of Tomorrow, Today!

The Lakeside Lightning Round turns 5 today! Can you believe it? Since it's inception in March of 2016, there have been over 235 posts highlighting the amazing staff, students and community of Millville. We have had over 170,000 visitors to the blog from over 30 different countries!

Dr. Cook, who started the blog and publishes it weekly, had this to say about the Lighting Round turning 5, "When I started to Lakeside one of the main themes from the staff was that we were not highlighting the positive contributions of our school. As the Lightning Round has grown, our Social Media presence through Facebook, Instagram and Twitter has grown exponentially. Publishing the weekly blog is something I enjoy doing each Sunday. It is the easiest thing for me to do as a Principal because there is always something amazing going on!"

We have remained dedicated to the original purpose of the Lightning Round which is to highlight our staff and students. We are always looking for stories, pictures, videos and even accomplishments outside of the school. As a staff, we are very grateful for the Millville community's support of our school and the blog! If you have an idea or material you would like to submit, please email Dr. Cook (spike.cook@millville.org).

Virtual and Home Hybrid Schedule Updates

Starting Monday, March 22nd we will be increasing our meeting days for all virtual and home-hybrid students. Students who are working from home will be required to attend a Google Meet with each class daily. Students will join the Google Meet at the start of each class and will stay on for approximately the first half of the class's scheduled time or until the teacher dismisses them. The other half of the time will be set aside for students to complete independent work.  Wednesday we will follow our all virtual time of 8:30-1 PM.

Information regarding our next phase of In-Person Learning will be coming soon. We thank you for your patience.

At the first Winter Olympic Games in 1924, the only event open to women was figure skating. Only 15 women participated in these games, something that would change drastically over the decades.

Our joke for the week is... Why did the man get rid of his vacuum cleaner? Because it was just gathering dust
