Staff Friendsgiving
Lakeside Lightning,

It's All About Respect at LMS!

This week our staff was treated to a double lunch (funded by the Classh Room win). We called the event Friendsgiving. Staff enjoyed the traditional Thanksgiving food such as turkey, mashed potatoes and stuffing plus all types of desserts.

While the staff was at Friendsgiving, the students had grade level assemblies in the Auditorium. These assemblies were led by the Vice Principals and focused on our Non Negotiables, expectations on the walk home, and areas to improve academics.

Non Negotiables
1, Cell Phones - Must be off and in lockers while in LMS
2. Profanity - Both indirect and direct profanity will not be tolerated
3. Disrespect - Students will demonstrate respect towards others, staff, and school environment at all times
4. Back and Forth - Students will accept the response of the staff member without negotiation
5, School Dress Code - Students will be dressed appropriately at all times
6, Hallways - Students will walk to the right, keep their hands and feet to themselves, keep voices down, and walk at all times

Script for beginning the class
“In this class, I expect that you will follow our non-negotiables. We do not use cell phones, we respect each other, we are dressed appropriately, and we do not use profanity.”

Script for end of the class
“Before we enter the hallways/stairwells, remember we walk to the right, we keep our hands and feet to ourselves and we keep our voices down.”

Take Care of Your Selfie Bulletin Board
Lakeside Lightning,

It's All About Respect at LMS!

We had an amazing Veterans Day Assembly this week. A big thank you to Mrs. Kern, Mrs. Gehringer, Mrs. Bassetti, and Mrs. Varner for organizing and for Mr. Godfrey for being in charge of the auditorium. During the assembly, we were able to hear from Veterans and see a presentation about the impact of our Armed Forces.

This week the teachers will be rewarded for winning the Clash-Room. They will be treated to a "friends-giving" during their Lunch and Advisory. Instead of Advisory, students will have grade level assemblies to review expectations and other important information.

Lakeside AVID Students Made Gratitude Pumpkins for Staff
Students in the AVID program made Gratitude Pumpkins for Staff to let them know how much they are appreciated. They found inspirational quotes and added in some personal messaged for their favorites. Students delivered the pumpkins prior to the 4 day weekend.

2019-20 Governor’s Educator of the Year (GEOY) program
Want to nominate an educator for the Educator of the Year program? Be sure to email Dr. Cook (spike.cook@millville.org). Please explain why you feel the educator deserves recognition, citing specific examples. Some things to consider: the educator’s methods for meeting student needs, desire for professional growth, community involvement, dedication to the education profession, and rapport with students, parents and staff. The more compelling the response, the better. Please use as much space as possible. If you need additional space, please feel free to attach your response separately and indicate in the form field below that you are doing so.

Attention Lakeside Staff: Thank you to all who participated in the T Shirt Tuesday fundraiser, and congratulations to Mrs Deckert, who won the $50 Wawa gift card raffle! Can’t wait to see everyone in their AVID gear!

Do you like reading in a casual atmosphere, where you can talk and be with your friends?  Do you like being able to eat snacks, while having a discussion about characters and why they do what they do?  Do you like listening to a teacher read in character to bring out the fun and interesting parts of a story?  This club may just be the page turner you have been looking for.   Join Mrs. Birnstiel on Tuesday's after school until 4:15 to read, eat, talk, and have a good time, all while learning how to really analyze text.  Permission slips are available outside of Y105.  Club starts Tuesday, November 12th.  See you there.

Looking for a quiet space to complete homework?  Sign up for homework club  which will be held on Thursdays in M112 from  3:15 to 4:15.  Please see Ms. Roche in M112 for a sign up sheet.
