Lakeside Lightning,

LMS with a great sunset
The World is Yours: Turning Obstacles Into Opportunities

We hope you had a restful Thanksgiving Break. Sometimes the 4 days goes too fast and for others it takes forever. Our staff is excited about returning to LMS and continuing to turn obstacles into opportunities.

Last week, even though it was only 3 days, we had a lot of activities. We had a very successful Spirit Week (see pictures below). Our PBSIS team treated the students to slices of pie during lunch. There were several teachers who did gratitude lessons with kids to tie in one of our focus points of the year with the Thanksgiving holiday. Dr. Cook mailed out about 160 letters to LMS students who were selected by the staff. We hope to send out more near the Winter Break. Keep making an impact on our staff and you will be recognized!

Lakeside Lightning,

21st Century students learning Latin Percussion
Happy Thanksgiving everyone! We are so excited about this week because it ties into our emphasis on Gratitude at LMS. Earlier this month, Dr. Cook asked the staff at LMS to identify a few students that they were grateful for and why. The staff submitted 160 nominations and Dr. Cook will be sending 135 individual letters (some had multiple nominations) in the mail to their parents. There was certainly a theme on those students who were selected. Many have overcome obstacles or have displayed a positive attitude towards the staff at LMS. Be on the lookout and if you don't get a letter, then view it as an opportunity to grow.

Lakeside Lightning,

The World is Yours: Turning Obstacles Into Opportunities

Even though there were only 3 days of school last week, we made the most of them! Our week was capped off by a very successful Veterans Day Assembly! We were so honored to have Veterans visit us from around the area to connect with our Student Council. In fact, we had a Veteran visit us who was 93 years old! She was so impressed with our school! We would like to thank Mrs. Kern, Mrs. Gehringer, and Mrs. Hoffman for coordinating the luncheon and assembly!

Can you believe that the first marking period is over on Monday, November 13? On Tuesday, the students will be going to their next elective. Report cards will be distributed next Wednesday before the Thanksgiving holiday. Also, please note that we will be having Make Up Pictures this Friday!

Video of the Week - Check out this inspiration video (only about 7 minutes) about everyday leadership opportunities!  Thanks to Ms. Carroll for recommending!
