January 20 - 24, 2020

Lakeside Lightning,

It's All About Respect at LMS!

We hope everyone had an enjoyable 3 day weekend. At Lakeside Middle School, we know that having off for Martin Luther King, Jr. day is not just another day off but rather an opportunity for us to reflect on the impact of one of our great leaders. Dr. King held education at a very high level in his speeches and his actions. One of his most important quotes about education was, "The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character - that is the goal of true education."

We have so much to be grateful for in regards to Martin Luther King, Jr. As we being this week, be sure to reflect on this quote when dealing with others, "I have decided to stick with love. Hate is too great a burden to bear.”

Our hope for Martin Luther King Jr. Day 2020 is that our students will resolve conflicts peacefully.

AVID Family Night was a success
Lakeside Lightning,

It's All About Respect at LMS!

We had our first full week of school in 2020 and it was a very good week! The Vice Principals each hosted an Assembly to refocus the students as we begin the new year. They reviewed the Non Negotiables as well as other important information such as academics,  and end of the year information.

Students were able to earn time in our PBSIS Lounge for the monthly PBSIS Buddy Lunch. The lounge is very cool and has games, technology, and comfortable seating. Our Winter Sports started their seasons this week, and the actors and actresses started practicing for the school play.

8th into 9th grade Course Selection begins this week in Science classes. Be sure to touch base with your Science teacher on your specific day.

No School - January 20, 2020 - Martin Luther King, Jr.

January 6 - 10, 2020

Mr. P. says, "It's a great day to be a Jr. Bolt"
Lakeside Lightning,

It's All About Respect at LMS!

We are looking forward to the first full week of 2020. Last week we only had two days but they were very important as we transitioned into 2020. Students and staff reviewed the Non Negotiables as well expectations for the remainder of the year.

This week we have two assemblies scheduled. On Tuesday, select students will learn more about our new after school program "The Phoenix Program." This club is the result of a partnership with the NJDOE as well as the local Cumberland County Prosecutors Office. We will also have Grade Level Assemblies on Thursday during Advisory periods to ensure that all students are aware of the Administration's expectations for the remainder of the year.
