Lakeside Lightning Round June 15, 2021

Lakeside Lightning,

The School of Tomorrow, Today!

On behalf of the staff and administration, we want to thank you for a wonderful ending to a very challenging year. Educating in a world wide pandemic is no easy task, but our staff and students along with amazing parental support made the best out of all the challenges. In many ways we catapulted into the technological age of the 21st century with our educational programs available 24/7.

We also were reminded that in addition to the technological advances, that the connection of in-person learning is essential. Our staff and admin team were able to do more home visits this year than ever before!

We were able to support community events and ensure that families who needed help were able to receive it. As the restrictions were lifted, we were able to bring more students back and have end of the year activities where kids can just be kids.

We will never forget this school year. It truly was a year like none other. We have learned a lot about ourselves and after a restful summer, we will be back and ready for 2021-22 school year with the theme "Grow through what you go through."

We will be posting periodically on the Lightning Round this summer and we will be back to the weekly format in September!

Have a great summer!

Love Always, Dr. Spike Cook, Principal Lakeside Middle School.

Lakeside Lightning Round June 14 - 18, 2021

Mrs. Richardson's students exploring in class

Lakeside Lightning,

We had over 600 students participate in our selection of the school theme for the 2021-22 school year. It was a close race, but in the end the new theme is.....

Grow Through What You Go Through

We believe that this theme will guide us as we return to school next year. The theme will allow us to go in so many directions with our activities, t-shirts, bulletin boars, videos, etc. We are very excited to get planning and ready for next year.

Last week was our last full week of the school year. Our 8th graders did a fantastic job with their End of the Year Activities. Unfortunately, the rain hampered many of the planned activities for Friday, but the students still had fun.

This week the 6th and 7th graders will be treated to some parting rewards and activities. Also, the students in 6th and 7th grade will be keeping their Chromebooks over the summer. Dr. Cook, Principal of Lakeside Middle School sent out a School Messenger that reviewed Anti-Cyberbullying efforts and resources for students and parents over the summer. In case you missed it, here is the link to the summer Anti-Cyberbullying resources (Click here).

8th Grade Step Up
Be sure to view the Step Up Procedures in the video below. We look forward to sending our 8th graders off to High School on Monday, June 14, 2021. Ceremony starts at 6:00 PM and cars are permitted to start entering LMS at 5:45 PM.

Thank you to our sponsors!

Our 8th grade End of the Year Activities Committee raised over $3,000 this year for the kids! Below is a list of our sponsors. We are so very grateful for their donations!
