Mr. Fien in the Dunk Tank
Lakeside Lightning,

The World Is Yours: Turning Obstacles Into Opportunities

We had another epic week at LMS. On Tuesday our Band and Art Show was very successful. This was a new opportunity for our Fine and Performing Arts Department and everyone who attended were very impressed. Students in the National Junior Honor Society had their trip to Dave and Busters on Wednesday! They did a great job of representing Lakeside.

On Thursday, Mrs. Abel hosted her annual Bike Trip to Cape May. The kids and teachers biked around Cape May and took in the local beaches. Also on Thursday we hosted our annual AVID Awards Banquet. We had over 200 families enjoy tasty food, inspiring speeches and an overall successful event.

he week culminated with the 8th grade Field Day. 8th grade students who earned the right to participate were treated to games, music, bouncy houses, Ice Cream Truck and a food truck. The students also were able to dunk their favorite teacher in the Dunk Tank. Everyone had a great time.

In addition, Lakeside, along with RM Bacon and the High School along with the rest of Cumberland County Schools participated in the largest health lesson ever. This monumental event will be put in the Guinness Book of World Records! Thank you to everyone who participated.

Thank you to the students and staff at Lakeside for everything they do to make our school something really special! We are grateful for everyone's contributions!

Honey, I Blew Up the Candy Bar - Mrs. Lopergolo's students take math to the next level
Just a few pictures from today’s scale factor lesson ‘Honey, I Blew Up the Candy Bar’.

The students measured the original candy bar, applied a given scale factor and calculated the new measurements as well as calculated increased calories, carbs, etc.

According to the students, the best part of the activity was eating their work!

Shades of Blue at the Staff Appreciation Luncheon
Lakeside Lightning,

The World Is Yours: Turning Obstacles Into Opportunities

We had another amazing week at LMS. On Wednesday we hosted our first Staff Appreciation Luncheon. This was sponsored by the PTO and was designed to provide the staff with a unique experience. The DMC was decorated with all types of thank yous and tributes to our wonderful staff. We had students from the Band and Chorus entertain as the staff enjoyed freshly grilled hot dogs and hamburgers with lots of sides and desserts.

On Friday we hosted our Annual 8th Grade Semi-Formal Dance. This event was attended by over 200 8th graders who were decked out in their best suits and dresses. The kids had an amazingly fun time dancing to music taking pictures and making the staff laugh!

This week we can officially say PARCC is complete. We have no more make-ups! Thank you to Mrs. Hallenbeck and Mr. Hudson for streamlining this process and quickly getting us back to regular schedule. We are excited for our Spring Band Concert and Art Show this Tuesday at 7:00 PM in the Auditorium. In addition, we have our annual AVID Dinner on Thursday at 6:00 PM.

Don't forget that we have an extended weekend due to the Memorial Day Holiday. There is no school on Monday, May 28, 2018.
