November 7 - 11, 2016

Lakeside Lightning,

Turning Dreams Into Reality
Our wonderful staff enjoying Workout Wednesday!
This week is shortened due to the NJEA Convention. We have a lot to accomplish in three days! There will be no school on Thursday or Friday!

Week in Review
Last week was a very eventful week. On Monday we had our first Evacuation Drill. The students and the staff did a great job of evacuating the building to the designated area and remaining calm as we ensured that each child was accounted for.

We had another successful Millville Neighborhood Alliance Meeting. Our students heard from local architect Larry Meringe about the various careers in design as well as how they can apply problem solving skills to improve the city.

Lakeside in the Local Newspaper
Our school was featured in the Daily Journal on Wednesday for the recent grant from e Global Nexus.  The grant, which is about 14,000, allowed LMS to get a 3D unit to use in the classroom. We are very thankful to Mr. Larry Perry for securing the donation from the e Global Nexus company! Checkout the article from the Daily Journal.  Checkout the video from event

We were also featured in the Neighbors section for our participation in the Alzheimers Walk.

News for this week
On Tuesday we will be having Grade Level Assemblies. The purpose of the assembly is to review the norms and expectations of the school. Now that we have completed two months of school there are a few things that need to be improved such as hallway decorum, arrival, and proper student interaction with staff. We will also revisit our basic school rules (Be Safe, Be Responsible, Be Respectful and Be a Good Learner).

On Wednesday we will be hosting our annual Veterans Day Assembly to honor those who have fought for our country. We are excited to be hosting Veterans from the area for a luncheon and to formally recognize them at the assembly.
