Lakeside Lightning Round - December 13 - 17, 2021

Holiday decorations

Lakeside Lightning,

Grow through what you go through

We completed another successful week at LMS. We have been challenged with continuing to offer classes despite the challenges of educating in the pandemic. There will be times when your child may need to report to the Auditorium or the DMC if their teacher is not present. We are always looking for substitutes and because of the shortage, we find it difficult to ensure all classes are covered. It is important to know that our teachers also have families, get sick, or need time off. We are very patient with our staff because their health plays an important role in the success of our school.

This week our administration will continue to meet with those students who are not following the expectations in our building. During those meetings, we are placing students on contracts or recommending them for change of placement.  Our commitment to safety, order and high expectations is unwavering. With that said, we have some interesting activities planned for those students who are following our expectations.

Winter Concert 2021 was a Success

Thank you to the 6th, 7th and 8th grade Band and Choir students for their amazing work at the Winter Concert! Big shout out goes to Mrs. Andrews and Mr. Bird for coordinating.

Daily Announcements

Just a reminder, there will be no band lessons until further notice. If you have any questions, please see Mr. Bird

Thank you to everyone who auditioned for the little mermaid. The cast list is posted on the choir room room! If you have any questions please contact Mrs Andrews.

🏀Sports

Wrestling season is quickly approaching! If you are interested in wrestling as a Lakeside Lightning, please fill out the interest paper located in the Cafeteria. There will be an interest meeting next week on Monday during 9th period at 2:50. Please bring your things as you will go straight to dismissal from this meeting. If you have any questions or need a physical packet, please see Mr. Taylor in the gym.

🎁 'Tis the season for giving and Lakeside wants to help!  Starting today now we will be having a Holiday Food Drive and Holiday Toy Drive.  For the food drive we are accepting non-perishable canned items such as soups, peanut butter, veggies, mac and cheese, cereal, etc.  For the toy drive we are accepting brand new unwrapped toys appropriate for girls or boys ages 5-11.  As an extra incentive you can earn points...for some of you that means points back while for others it means extra points so that you can become a member of the 145+ Club who will be rewarded at the end of the year.  Each toy is worth 5 points and each food item is worth 2 points.  You can earn up to 20 points with no more than 10 for toys and 10 for food. The homeroom for each grade level who brings in the most food and toys combined will earn a pizza party!!

 Drop off locations are:

  • Food:  6th grade Ms. Zerra in Y123 , 7th grade Mrs. Hickman in B103 , 8th grade Ms. Molesky in M103
  • Toys: 6th grade Ms. Carroll in Y124 , 7th grade Ms. Grennon & Mrs. Powell in B131, 8th grade Mrs. Morgan in M135.
