Lakeside Lightning Round - 2/28 - 3/4, 2022

March 4 and 5, 2022

Lakeside Lightning,

Grow through what you go through!

We have a lot going on this week! As we enter March, we will be going back to full days. Although the early dismissal days allowed our staff to have the afternoon for their prep and PLC time, we are excited to be going to full days. The students will need to adjust to the longer classes and having lunch again in the cafeteria. We will be continuing the hallway sweeps. In addition, this week, if students have their hood up in the hallways, they will be facing similar consequences as our hallway sweeps. We have warned students far too many times about their hoods.

The Little Mermaid Jr.

The time is finally here! The Little Mermaid Jr. will be on Friday March 4th and Saturday March 5th here at LMS at 7:00pm. The cast and crew have been working relentlessly to make this show an absolute success. After nearly 2 years, we couldn't be more excited. Please consider purchasing tickets and attending the show to support them.

Lakeside Lightning Round February 21 - 25, 2022

 Lakeside Lightning,

Grow through what you go through!

We have a lot to celebrate at Lakeside. This past week we started Operation Hallway Sweep. Administrators and Security were out in full force in the hallways to deter and then eventually address students late to class. "In just one week, we have seen the hallway traffic improve and a lot less kids are late," said Dr. Cook, Principal. The operation will continue as we remain focused on making Lakeside better each day!

This week, the security and administration will be working on Project Hallway Sweep. This initiative is designed to ensure students are in class ready to learn when the bell rings. Just because we are on Early Dismissals does not mean that we have changed our expectations. Want to know more? Click here for more information.

Lakeside Lightning Round February 7 - 11, 2022

Lakeside Lightning,

Grow through what you go through!

We just finished our first week of Early Dismissals. There has been a lot written about this change (See Philadelphia Inquirer article, New Jersey News) and on the local news channels (Channel 3, Channel 6, Fox 29, and Channel 10). As Mr. Trongone has pointed out, the changes in the schedule allow us to provide more coverage during the day for our students. Dr. Cook, Lakeside Principal, said, "We are grateful for the district taking this opportunity to help our students and teachers as we continue to educate in a pandemic."

Early Dismissal, as our administration state every morning during announcements, does not mean that we have lowered the expectations for our students. Each morning, Dr. Cook or one of the other administrators reads the following message to the students, "Early dismissal doesn't mean lowered expectations for learning. When a teacher is covering the class, students are to show respect for the adult. Reminder that at Lakeside we expect that hoods down, masks up, students require a pass to be out of the classroom during class time. In the hallways, we stay to the right and keep our hands and feet to ourselves. We keep our voices down because others are learning. Cell phones are to be off, away and in your locker. We commit to resolve conflicts peacefully at Lakeside. You are great this morning. We love to see you happy and we love to see you smiling even through your mask. We want you to be happy today, tomorrow and in the future. And remember, Lakeside students, if no one told you today that they loved you, know that we love you and will always love you."
