Happy Presidents' Day and Valentine's Day Weekend! We hope you enjoyed the three day weekend and are ready for the return to Hybrid Learning on February 16, 2021.

We have to cancel February 17 February Fun Night. Our next game is scheduled for February 24 at 7:45 PM on Wednesday (go to this link). 

Return to Hybrid
Our school will return to hybrid learning on Tuesday, February 16th. Our Orange cohort will be in person on 2/16 and 2/17.  Our blue cohort will be in person on 2/18 and 2/19. Students may enter the building at 8:15 after a quick temperature check. Homeroom starts promptly at 8:32.  Breakfast will be served to all students starting at 8:15.  Our February calendar can be found on the school's website, on the Lightning Round blog or by visiting tinyurl.com/LMSFeb2021
We are so excited for our return and cannot wait to see our wonderful students!

When entering the school building, please remember to wear a face mask, per the CDC guidelines neck-gators are not permitted in place of a face mask.

Family Game Night

Our second Family Game Night of February was another success. We had about 50 participants for the Jeopardy Game based on popular culture.  Congratulations to Mr. Prohowich, Ms. Gaudio and Carliegh for being in the top 3!  This week we are playing Blookit. School Pictures - Make up days 
Thank you to everyone who was able to make the picture days earlier in February. We have rescheduled two more days for make ups.  The pictures will be taken in the Lakeside Main Gym on February 23 and 25. All students in the Orange Cohort will take pictures on 2/23 and Blue Cohort will be on 2/25. The image galleries for the February 2nd and 3rd  picture days just went live via email. Parents and guardians should keep a lookout in their email and if they have any issues or questions, they can email  smile@bassettiphoto.com.   Bassetti Photo will take care of making sure parents and guardians can view their child's images.

Black History Month
Black history and culture is an integral part of the American history. It was originally established in the 1920s by Carter G. Woodson. February was chosen for the celebration of Black History Month because Frederick Douglass and Abraham Lincoln were born in the month. It was extended to a month-long celebration in 1976, and has been celebrated by millions of school children. At Lakeside, we will have activities in the classrooms and on the announcements to raise awareness for this amazing month!

Lakeside Middle School started a new initiative to recognize those students who are going above and beyond during the Remote Learning Experience. Parents - Are you signed up for weekly summaries through Google Classroom? 

Parents, this is a reminder that you are able to sign up for daily or weekly summaries from your child's Google Classroom. This can be particularly helpful to keep up with an assignment that your student may have forgotten to submit. If you want to sign up, please contact your child's teacher and ask them to invite you to view your child's Google Classroom. Please also provide them with the email address you would like your invitation sent.  Additionally, If you are currently receiving weekly updates and would like daily, or vice versa, click on the settings button at the bottom of your next Google Classroom summary report.

Late Policies for LAL and Math
As of  Monday, January 18th, all Math and Language Arts teachers have posted their late policies on their Google Classroom.

• Camera must be on from beginning of class until teacher dismisses class

• Exception- Camera can be shut off if a student needs to step away from the computer temporarily.

• Parental request will void camera policy

Yearbook Information
Log in to YearbookOrderCenter.com and enter 13222 as the code. Follow the prompts after that. We want your sport’s pictures, friends’ pictures, selfies, photobombs, and more. There are two ways to upload your pictures:

1. Go to eshare.com and enter code Lakeside21. You will then have to register and accept the terms of eShare. After that Browse Pictures and Upload away.
2. Download the eshare Herff Jones app for iPhones or Androids. Then enter the code: Lakeside21

***Please understand that not all pictures can or will be used. Please only send clear, appropriate pictures with no text on them. Look for announcements on fun themes for pictures!! Upload pictures now of pumpkin carving, holiday baking, Snapchat filters, you & your pet, and favorite mask selfie. Email kara.belmonte@millville.org with any questions.

Food Distribution
The following meal distribution schedule will be in effect beginning November 30 and continue until in-person instruction resumes:

• 10:00am - 5:00pm Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays (Senior High, Memorial, Lakeside, Holly Heights, Bacon, Silver Run, Mt. Pleasant, and CFC)
• On Mondays - 3 breakfast, lunch, & dinners
• On Wednesdays - 2 breakfast, lunch, & dinners
• On Fridays - 2 breakfast, lunch, & dinners

Our joke for the week is... What do you call a cow with a twitch? Beef jerky.
