April 10 - 21, 2017

Lakeside Lightning,

Turning Dreams Into Reality

Shout out to Mr. Hakola who taught Ms. Wichnick's class how to make salsa!
We are very excited for this week. There are so many activities going on. Our JDRF Walk will be taking place on Thursday. Each year Mrs. Pettit teaches the school about Juvenile Diabetes and why we raise money. She also wins each year for the homeroom who raises the most money. In addition, the rest of the teachers try (none have ever succeeded) to "Pummel Pettit." In order to "Pummel Pettit"' one homeroom needs to raise more money than Mrs. Pettit's homeroom. Will this year be the year?

EdCamp for LMS Parents -
Mrs. Stroup is seeking feedback for a Parent EdCamp night in the next few weeks. We would like to get your feedback to design a program to suit your needs. Click here to take this brief survey.

Bubbles for Autism
The Bubbles for Autism event will be held on Monday, April 10 @ 2:00 in the cafeteria.  This event is completely voluntary.  We will have a table set up for signing/handprints on the banner and temporary tattoos.  We will go out to the lawn by the gazebo to blow bubbles for about 5-10 minutes and then enter back in through the cafeteria to finish the activities.

Franklin Institute Traveling Science Show
Mr. Godfrey prepping for the PARCC
We are having The Franklin Institute bring their Traveling Science Show on Motion and Machines to Lakeside Middle School this Monday morning, April 10th.  Due to audience size limits instituted by The Franklin Institute, we had to split the eighth-grade class into two sections.  With administrative support, we decided that the easiest way to do that was to split the groups by using the students A Day and B-Day science schedule.

Students who have science on A-Day will attend the show at 8:45 am and return to class after the show concludes at 9:30 am.  Students that have science on B-Day will attend the show at 9:45 am and return after the show concludes at 10:30 am.  There will be an announcement made for each group of students to report to the auditorium.  We appreciate your flexibility in allowing our students to participate in this great experience.
