September 18 - 22, 2017

Lakeside Lightning,

The World is Yours: Turning Obstacles Into Opportunities

Mrs. Murphy and her wonderful granddaughter
We finished our first full week at LMS for the 17-18 school year. Students and teachers accomplished a great deal as they set norms for the classrooms, hallways and lunch room. Students are adjusting to the new offerings on Edmentum, and they are doing excellent in the hallways!

We are excited that the Fall sports will be under way this week. We even have a few games! Be sure to check out the schedule below. Parents and students can always stay current with the Athletic Schedule by clicking this link.

On Monday, Dr. Cook and Mrs. Hallenbeck presented to the Board of Education. They reviewed all of the changes to the master schedule, new classes, and the new Advisory period. The board members were impressed and encouraged Dr. Cook and Mrs. Hallenbeck to continue to make changes to improve LMS!

Dr. Cook visited most of the Common Planning Times on Thursday to spend time with the teachers to see how the year was progressing. Teachers are really grateful for how well the students are behaving in the classrooms and in the hallways. They are adjusting to the scheduling changes but are even ready to share some ideas for next year! Many of the teachers reported different ideas on how to integrate the theme into their classrooms this year. Be sure to check back for progress!

Attention all students interested in playing a sport at Lakeside:
Please grab a physical form with the Thunderbolt on the front in the cafeteria during your lunch time.
If you've completed a physical form within the past couple of months, then grab the single sheet of paper labeled "HEALTH HISTORY UPDATE QUESTIONNAIRE" next to the Thunderbolt packet.
