Lakeside Lightning,

The World is Yours: Turning Obstacles Into Opportunities

We had another busy week at Lakeside Middle school this week. In addition to all of the amazing lessons and activities happening in the classroom, Lakeside hosted representatives from Millville High School. The purpose of the assembly (for 8th graders) was to discuss all of the opportunities currently at the high school and future opportunities for our students. A few of the students were former Lakeside Lightning and we were so proud to see how much they have grown! It is pretty clear to us at Lakeside that there is only one choice for high school.... Millville High School! Be a Bolt!

Our week was not without incident. We had a streak of a month and half without a fight. Unfortunately that was broken this week. We want to remind everyone that fighting is not accepted or tolerated at Lakeside and those who choose to resolve conflicts this way will suffer major consequences. If you have a conflict with someone, it is your responsibility to utilize a teacher, counselor or administrator to help resolve the conflict peacefully. Our staff has helped students resolve countless conflicts this year.

This week we have an exciting opportunity for students as we host our first Career Fair. Thanks to Mr. Bunting, our 6th grade counselor, we will be hosting over 17 representatives from various fields to expose students to careers. The Career Fail will be held from 9:00 AM - 2:30 PM on Thursday, October 26 near the Auditorium. Students will attend the Career Day through their Science and Social Studies classes.

Be sure to join us for the PTO Fundraiser at Yogo on Thursday from 5:00 PM - 9:00 PM. Mention you are from Lakeside and we will get a portion of the proceeds!

Do you want to help the victims of the hurricanes, but don't know how?  Do you have a quarter?  All it takes is one quarter, just 25 cents, to buy a red, white and blue bracelet to support the hurricane relief.  Stop by Mrs. Sooy's room, M133, to buy a bracelet or look for students selling them during lunches during the month of October.  That quarter will go a long way in helping those trying to rebuild their lives after the hurricane.

Thank you and our joke for the week is: What is the monster’s favorite food? Fettuccini Afraid-o! Have a funny week!
