September 16 - 20, 2019

Lakeside Lightning,

It's All About Respect at LMS!

Want to know what the staff is saying about our opening? Many report that it has been the best we have had in years? What are the factors causing this epic opening? Here are a few of the factors.. Staff and students are on the same page with the Non-Negotiables, we have the BEST students and we have the BEST staff!

In just 8 days of school we have accomplished a lot, but we all know that this is a marathon, not a sprint. Out intervention team is working with the staff to screen all of the students in LAL and Math to determine who may need additional help. Our Language Arts, Science and Social Studies teachers are implementing a new program, NewsELA. This online program will provide students access to thousands of informational articles with embedded quizzes and discussion points. Not to be outdone, our Math teachers have implemented a new Math program and intervention. There are lots of exciting things going on a LMS! We hope you will join us at our Back to School Night (#BTSN19) on September 24, 2019. We will be sending letters out with more information this week!

Lakeside to appear on the ClassH Room
Have you heard of the ClassH Room that airs weeknights at 6:30 PM on Fox 29? This Saturday LMS will be competing on the show. If you would like to be part of the studio audience and cheer on the staff and students, please contact Dr. Cook (spike.cook@millville.org). We will be leaving LMS on Saturday at 7:30 AM and should return around 1:30 PM.

Assemblies this Week
On Wednesday, September 18, students in 6th, 7th, and 8th will participate in Grade Level Assemblies on a very important topic... Vaping. These assemblies are being sponsored by our SAC Mrs. Benishek. Want to learn more about "Vaping Me Crazy"? Check out the Steered Straight website.

Bags, food, and drinks are prohibited from being brought into the stadium. At the end of the third quarter the gates will be locked and no one will be permitted to enter the game.

Our joke of the week is: Did you hear about the man shopping for camouflage pants? He couldn't find any. Have a fantastic week!
