October 26 - 30, 2020

Lakeside Lightning,

The School of Tomorrow, Today!

At Lakeside we PIVOT! Ever since the pandemic started we have had to change and adapt with challenges and opportunities. This week we had to continue to Pivot as we dealt with our first case of COVID 19. We want to thank everyone for their support and understanding.

As for the safety of the staff and students, Dr. Cook, Principal said, "According to the Department of Health we are not considered "close contacts" due to the fact that we wear masks, practice social distancing, and wash hands frequently. With that said, we are operating with an abundance of caution." We will continue to put our reopening plan in to practice to ensure the safety of our staff and students.

Here are resources for parents, students and staff:

Isia and Ms. Carroll social distancing

Lakeside Lightning,

The School Of Tomorrow, Today!

We had a very successful first week of Hybrid Learning at LMS. We were so impressed with the staff as they welcomed everyone into the building, reviewed in-person expectations, and followed the protocols set forth. The students were all screened prior to entering the building, kept their masks on (unless going outside for a mask break) as well socially distanced in the hallways and cafeteria.

This week we look to continue our in-person instruction as we also maintain our online/virtual learning. Here is the schedule this week. Be sure to reach out to your teachers or guidance counselor if you have any questions.

We are excited to welcome back our In-person Hybrid students this week. The staff and administration have worked very hard to ensure we transition smoothly and safely. We have put into place all of our Pandemic Response protocols. If you would like to read about our plan, please click here.

Dr. Cook, Principal, said this about our re-opening, "We have worked collaboratively with staff to put together a plan that will meet the needs of our students and to maintain a safe learning environment. We need our staff and students to understand the importance of the daily screening process, proper mask wearing and social distancing throughout each day."

Parents/Guardians Student Screening Protocol - Orange and Blue In Person Hybrid Students will receive a letter this week that needs to be signed and returned. This letter is a commitment that you will screen your child prior to sending them to in-person learning. Here is a copy of the form.

Ms. Carroll at the gleaning

Lakeside Lightning,

The School of Tomorrow, Today!

We had an excellent turnout for our "gleaning" project with the NJ Farmers Against Hunger on Monday, September 21, 2020. We gleaned about 4 large containers of peppers for area food banks and community centers. Everyone who participated enjoyed the experience and the representatives from Rowan College and NJ Farmers Against Hunger were so grateful for our assistance. We will let you know when the next event will be taking place.

We are getting prepared for the upcoming transition to Hybrid and Virtual Learning Experience on October 13. Our administrative team has visited area schools and has been working collaboratively with the district administration on finalizing plans for the schedule as well as the building preparation. We will be doing a video shortly to describe the Hybrid and Virtual Learning experience so that everyone is aware of the procedures and expectations. This is all unchartered territory but we are ready for the challenge!
