February 5 - February 9, 2018

Lakeside Lightning,

LMS staff are proud of the Eagles!
The World Is Yours: Turning Obstacles Into Opportunities

We had a very exciting week at LMS! On Monday, our staff had the opportunity to work on curriculum, develop ideas on our school improvement, and learn about mindfulness techniques. There was a buzz throughout the week about the upcoming Super Bowl. Many students and staff wore their Eagles gear, and a few wore their Patriots gear.

On Friday, our 7th grade AVID students visited the Rowan Planetarium at Rowan University. After the amazing space exploration, the AVID students were treated to a presentation by Dr. JT Mills, Assistant Director of the Office of Equity and Diversity. He spoke to the kids about the importance of reading, asking questions, and becoming involved in school. The students also got the opportunity to meet Kianna Price, a former AVID student and African Studies Major at Rowan. She inspired the students and we were able to learn a lot from her!

Mrs. Tymkiw gets accepted to appear on Jeopardy!
We are so excited to announce that Mrs. Tymkiw will be traveling to Los Angeles, CA on March 19-22, 2018.  Not only will this be the opportunity of a lifetime for Mrs. Tymkiw, but it will be good for Lakeside and the district as well.  She will be earning grant money for her classroom!

Happy National School Counselors Week!
We want to thank our school counselors. What would we do without them? They meet with students, teachers and parents to ensure our students are on the right track. Be sure to thank Mr. Bunting, Mrs. Dandrea, Ms. Acosta, Mrs. Jost, Mrs. Muller, Ms. Deforest, and Ms. Eppright!
