Respect Week at LMS!
Lakeside Lightning,

It's All About Respect at LMS!

Attention Lakeside Families and Community Members
Want to make an impact on our School Improvement Process? Join Dr. Cook, our Principal, for a School Improvement Meeting designed for Lakeside families and community members. The initial meeting of the year will be Monday, October 7, 2019 at 6:00 PM in the Lakeside Digital Media Center (DMC).  We will review the School Improvement Process as well as the impact of the Non Negotiable's. We look forward to seeing you then!

Walk to End Alzheimer’s
NJHS is participating in the “Walk to End Alzheimer’s” on October 20th  at the NJ Motorsports Park.  In an effort to help raise funds for this event, we are sponsoring a “Support the Cause – Jean Day."   All proceeds benefit the Alzheimer’s Association. Thank you in advance for your support.

Who Will Win the ClassH Room?
Be sure to tune in to Fox 29 at 6:30 PM on Tuesday to watch the students take on the staff. There is $500.00 on the line. If the teachers win, they get a luncheon. If the students win, they get money for the National Junior Honor Society.
Will the staff win?

Will the students win?

Advisory Changes
The reason we are revising the Advisory period is to enhance the interventions for our students do to the assessment results. Each state assessed area (LAL and Math) will be provided with interventions for the students to complete on their assigned day. Interventionists will continue to monitor the data and provide growth charts and graphs for students and parents to show their progress throughout the year. Timed breaks and incentives. As the year progresses, we will provide incentives for the students and allow them opportunities to earn rewards. In addition, we will take week long breaks to allow students and teachers time to work on other areas in the curriculum.

Healthy School Information
Millville Public Schools is committed to establishing a school environment that promotes students’ health, well-being, and ability to learn. We work hard to ensure that students’ minds and bodies are ready for learning each day. We encourage healthy eating and physical activity, leading them to good choices and lifelong success. By helping our students start healthy habits early in life, we can help reduce our children’s health risks and increase chances for longer, more productive lives.

In support of the District’s Wellness Initiative, we will continue requiring healthy food for celebrations for the 2019 -2020 school year. Our goal is not to cut out all treats, but to make sure they are healthy and do not become the focus of parties or celebrations. The focus should be on fun, not food.

Please note, donations of home baked goods, candy, chips, and other items not supportive of the BOE Wellness & Nutrition policy, the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010 and USDA approved nutrition standards, will not be permitted in our building. This also helps to ensure no child has an allergic reaction to any ingredients. Store bought items must meet the Smart Snacks Standards below:

  • Calories: 200 calories or less
  • Sodium: 200 mg or less
  • Total Fat: 35% of calories or less
  • Saturated Fat: Less than 10% of calories
  • Trans Fat: 0 g
  • Sugar: 35% by weight or less
